If you live in Florida we are excited to announce that we are a direct pay provider with Step Up for Students.

A structured, online, coach-led program designed specifically for homeschool students who struggle with time management, motivation, organization, and follow-through. Perfect for highly creative kids and kids with ADHD.

If your child:

  • gets overwhelmed
  • becomes frustrated with their studies
  • has trouble focusing and completing tasks
  • procrastinates

Then they need:

  • a set time to tackle what they’ve been putting off
  • live accountability coaching
  • encouragement and guidance when they’re stuck
  • and coaching to help them find out what works best for them

How it Works

My Focus Mentor isn’t a course. It’s a way for your teen to get the support they need to get work done and improve their executive funtioning skills. Your teen will meet in the same group daily (Monday – Thursday) led by a fully trained focus mentor who will help them plan their week and break big tasks into manageable steps. They’ll get to report their progress on those tasks throughout the week while receiving positive encouragement and support from their mentor and their group mates. Your teen’s focus mentor will follow a protocol that ensures accountability and commitment in whatever way works best for them (i.e. text message check-ins or self-rewarding).

Our services can be used for homework, chores, papers, writing and sending applications, young entrepreneurial tasks, or anything else your teen wants/needs to achieve but has been putting off.

We know how difficult it is to stay focused and organized when you’re highly creative or have ADHD – we’ve been there, and we know how bad it can feel. Our goal is to highlight your child’s strengths, while helping them improve in the areas they struggle with, such as focus and task completion, among other things. We do this by introducing them to techniques and strategies that work for many professionals in a way that’s easy for them to understand and implement in their daily lives. We also use coaching and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) techniques to change beliefs and build confidence.

There will be chances for your teen to be invited to special events (usually on Fridays) as a reward for showing up and doing their best every week! There will even be the occasional prize.

Why it Works (Especially for ADHD Brains)

Most students don’t struggle because they’re lazy.

They struggle because they lack:

  • structure
  • accountability
  • external focus support
  • a set time to work on the things they keep putting off

Our program provides all four, inspired by a method known as body doubling which has been used all over the world for the last 50 years!

About Body Doubling

“Body doubling alone has been shown to significantly improve focus and task completion, especially for students with ADHD.”

The term “body doubling” was coined in 1996 by ADHD coach and mentor Linda Anderson MA, MCC, SCAC. It’s useful for anyone that struggles with common issues related to ADHD, autism and executive function. It has become very popular lately, especially with stay-at-home workers because it helps people stay accountable and get things done.

Today, Body Doubling is used all over the world as a means to get things done by getting together at a set time with a group of people that also have things they need to work on. Some adults use this time to pay bills, fill out forms, finish writing correspondence, or study for tests among other things.

ADHD therapists and counselors recommend this group experience (or even just another person’s company) to help their clients stay focused and be held accountable.

At My Focus Mentor we understand the importance of helping others who also struggle with ADHD. We love helping students accomplish necessary tasks, create self awareness, learn hacks that help them be the best version of themselves, and most importantly build confidence and thrive.

How We Are Different

Most body doubling services are built for adults with open rooms, rotating strangers, and zero sense of connection. What we offer is entirely different. This is a structured, teen-focused environment where consistency, belonging, and growth come first. Students aren’t dropped into random sessions with unfamiliar adults, they meet with the same small group every week, building real friendships, accountability, and trust over time.

Our mentors get to know your teen personally and can tailor their mentorship accordingly. Included in your teen’s membership is a positive, judgment -free community that supports and encourages each other.

Our goal is to help your teen focus, and learn new techniques that can help them tackle the things that get in their way like procrastination, lack of confidence and so much more.

Because we want your child to be the best they can be we also offer free pop-up events like workshops to help them create self-awareness, special chats about specific topics, and group coaching opportunities. We will also offer other ways to connect like Art Journaling events, meditation, writing workshops and more. Taking suggestions from our members through polls they can partcipate in on our platform.

Certified Coach Created and Led

As a certified life coach who has been working with young adults over the last 10 years, and as an adult with ADHD, I know how frustrating it can be to want to get things done but struggle doing so.

All of our mentors are thoroughly trained in the coaching methods necessary to help your child overcome obstacles and build confidence. We hire patient and caring mentors/coaches that have experience working with teens and who have an understanding of ADHD.

We provide a positive atmosphere that’s free from judgment. Our mission is for teens to learn what works for them while creating self-awareness and self-confidence.

More About Me

Hi, I’m Candice, a certified professional coach, former college professor and mom of two amazing adults that I homeschooled through high school. I love working with teens and have been doing so for the last 10 years. I focus on building confidence and self-awareness so that teens feel good about their futures and are excited for things to come. I use proven coaching techniques which include CBT, NLP and empowering questions to dig deeps and help change negative beliefs that people might have about them selves and to help them figure our what works best for them when it comes to reaching their goals and moving forward.

I’ve also coached college students and many parents in the past. In Michigan I opened a place for teens to connect, learn more about who they are and what they wanted to do with the rest of their lives while learning to believe in themselves and building confidence. This is what I love to do. I hope you’ll let me help your teen too. I look forward to working with your teen and helping them accomplish the things they want to accomplish.

I’m also an air force brat who grew up in seven countries. I met my Greek husband while attending college in Greece. My mum who passed away was English and met my dad while she was working as a nanny in Morocco. I have a Biewer Terrier that travels everywhere with me and two cats. I love to travel, dine out, drink tea and spend time with friends and family.

My Focus Mentor is designed to guide students through their academic journey, focusing on personal development, time management, and goal setting, but we also allow time in our sessions for kids to chat and create new friendships so they’ll have something to look forward to.

Our unique methodology combines mentorship with exploration, ensuring each student receives the specific support they need to thrive. Join us in transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and success!

What Sessions Look Like

Mondays, at their chosen time time every week, your child meets with their group of eight students. They spend around 30 minutes talking about their goals for the week

Tuesdays, at the same time, they’ll meet for their study time. Meeting with their group incentivizes them to get their work done and gives them something to look forward to. At the beginning of the session, the group has a quick catch up (what’s going on in their lives, what exciting plans they have coming up and so on). This gives them a social element which gets them excited to come to the session.

After the catch up, everyone mutes their microphones and screens and works independently for 20 – 30 minutes. Next, everyone comes back to briefly discuss progress. If your teen had trouble tackling their tasks the mentor will ask them some coaching questions to help them figure out what’s going on and offer encouragement and ideas.

The rest of the session follows the same pattern. At the end of the allotted time, everyone comes together to evaluate progress and congratulate themselves on their accomplishments.

Wednesdays, the group meets at the same time and follows the same routine as the day before.

Thursdays, at the same time, the group meets for 30 minutes to discuss progress, what got in the way, and how to be more productive the following week.

Fridays, teens are invited to a group session to play trivia games or chat with other members. These events are by invitation only, but are awarded to teens who made an effort to complete their work with a good attitude. Not every session will be productive and we still treat our members with respect and a positive attitude telling them that next week will be better.
